Saint-Petersburg Ballet Theatre Saint-Petersburg, Russia The Red Giselle Ballet Boris Eifman Director Spesivtseva was a superb Giselle. She was so deeply immersed into the spirit of her character, that she was unable to return back to real life: Giselle's lot in the end became her own. But there was something else that played a fatal part in her life: the bloody events that were taking place in Petrograd at the time of the revolution. This red symbol, as a symbol of fate, would haunt and torment her forever. Her emigration brought her nothing but disappointments - both in her creative and personal life - and further tragedies, which in the end culminated in a catastrophe.
